Medical Malpractice: Breast Cancer: Misread Mammogram
Amount: $985,000
Case Summary:Renowned experts in breast cancer determined that the radiologist misread the mammogram and reported that it showed no cancer when, in fact, it showed a new growth that needed further diagnostic workup which would have shown breast cancer at an early, most probably curable stage. Radiologist's error resulted in failure to timely diagnose and treat the breast cancer which, as a result, metastasized and was not diagnosed until the cancer was Stage 4, too late to be successfully treated. Settlement was obtained without the need for depositions or trial on behalf of decedent's husband and adult children.
